Background and inspiration [edit]

I was doing something correct considering and then many people get nominated and that's it; but to be a function of a project that really won was the moment I realized I was in the correct business."[ane] Bellinger also told Billboard Mag that he stayed with Brown in the studio every day for about 2 months. Then, RoccStar and PK played the beat out and he immediately thought about Michael Jackson. And then they said, "Go in the booth and do some Michael-blazon stuff."[1] In another interview, Bellinger said, "He [Brown] really, actually went back to the days of Sam Cooke, but we were even so able to go on it 2013 at the aforementioned time." Bellinger also cited Justin Timberlake as some other influence for the song and Brown's upcoming album "Ten".[two]
For one of the producers of the song, Roccstar, he was aiming for authentic music, saying that, "Seeing he'due south supposed to be the next MJ, it's kind of an automatic influence. I personally carry the Jackson audio a lot because I used to be around them and so much. [...] With the bass line, I wasn't really thinking 'Let's make a Michael Jackson song,' I was simply like 'let's make something that feels great.' Chris was like, 'We got to do some existent shit this album. People need to experience exactly what I'm doing, it needs to exist emotional and people demand to be emotionally attached to this tape,' so we just went in."[3]
Composition and lyrics [edit]
"Fine Communist china" was written by Chris Brown, CBE artist Sevyn Streeter, Eric Bellinger and Roccstar, while production was handled by Roccstar and PK.[v] It is an R&B song,[6] with Dark-brown singing "I'm not unsafe" in a vintage Rex-of-Pop falsetto over elastic bass and swinging Eighties funk grooves, according to Rolling Stone 's Matt Diehl.[vii] According to Brownish, the chorus ("Information technology's alright/I'thousand not dangerous/If you're mine, I'll be generous/You're irreplaceable/A collectible, but like fine china") is about "how fragile, priceless and cute a girl can exist."[vii] Lyrically, it uses fancy dinnerware as a metaphor for a frail woman over a soulful, 1970'south-inspired track.[iv] He also makes use of his falsetto, which soars over harmonies and a disco beat in the chorus.[6] According to Amy Sciarretto of Pop Crush, "the shimmying vocal has a similar tempo to 'Billie Jean,' with '80s backbeats and plenty of Jacksonian 'Woo-hoos' and 'whoas' sprinkled throughout the song."[6]
The song is performed in an East♭ minor key, with Brown's song ranging from E♭four to D♭half dozen, and is set in mutual time at a tempo of 106 beats per infinitesimal.[8] [nine] Brown released a remix which featured Mutual on May 7, 2013, with Mutual waxing rapping about a special lady.[x]

And at least with this operation, he saves the super-concrete stuff for the end, leaving him gratuitous to, y'know, actually sing during his proper performance–something of a novelty for Brown at laurels-bear witness performances of late."[21] He also performed the song during a medley at the 2013 BET Awards on June 30, 2013, alongside "Don't Think They Know". The functioning started with Brownish wearing a blackness skeleton outfit and flanked by dancers marked with brilliant xanthous "10"south on their otherwise black and white ensembles, while performing "Fine China". Later, he strayed soon and slowed everything downwards with a candle and blacklit operation of "Don't Retrieve They Know". Subsequently, Nicki Minaj appeared suspended from the ceiling in a ball. She delivered a spitfire verse before the spotlight returned to Dark-brown, who put his hood up sheepishly at the decision of the operation.[22]

That throwback audio is happening in the genre right now, and Breezy is paying his respects. [...] It'due south quite possible that this could be the vocal that changes the game for Breezy and allows people to focus on his music, instead of his past indiscretions."[half-dozen]
Kyle Anderson of Entertainment Weekly called information technology "a buzzy, bubbly bounciness with however some other killer chorus."[19] Robert Copsey of Digital Spy commented on the vocal's influences, writing that it has "Stevie Wonder-esque R&B beats and a lite-even so-growly vocal non too dissimilar to Michael Jackson", ultimately calling information technology, "less a gracious nod and more like a well-polished tribute act."[28] In a less favorable review, Will Hermes of Rolling Stone gave the song ii.v (out of 5 stars), calling it "generic, if well-built, R&B praise song to a woman, rocking a squishy, Daft Punk-y synth line and bright cord arrangements, while the chorus centers on Dark-brown declaring, 'I'm not dangerous' – a word option he probably idea long and difficult about, simply as listeners will."[29]
